Dr. Dre - Andre Romell Young (born February 18, 1965, Compton, California) - American rapper and producer, one of the most successful beatmakers in rap music. He is considered a major figure in the popularization and one of the founding fathers of g-funk, a style of West Coast hip-hop that emerged in the early 1990s in Los Angeles. In addition to his solo work, Dr. Dre has produced albums by numerous rappers, including Snoop Dogg, Eminem, 50 Cent, Xzibit, 2Pac, The Game and Busta Rhymes, many of whose albums went multi-platinum. Dr. Dre began his musical career as a member of the band World Class Wreckin' Cru. He became widely known at the turn of the 1980s and 1990s as a member of the rap group N.W.A., which was at the origins of gangsta rap. After the breakup of N.W.A., he began a solo career. In 1992 he released his first album, called The Chronic. It became a bestseller and brought the author a Grammy Award for the single "Let Me Ride". In 1996 Dr. Dre left Death Row Records and established his own label, Aftermath Entertainment. For his second album 2001, released in 1999, he won a Grammy for Best Producer of the Year. During the 2000s, Dr. Dre mostly produced other artists, occasionally recording duets with them. In 2001 and 2004, he was named by Rolling Stone magazine among the highest paid members of show business. In addition to his music career, Dre has starred in three films: The Challenge, The Wash and Training Day.
