Psy (sai; root 싸이; sai; stylized by majuscule as PSY) Park Jae-sang (root 박재상; born December 31, 1977, Seoul, South Korea) is a South Korean singer and songwriter, known for his humorous videos and live performances.
In January 2001, PSY debuted a full-length album, "Psy from the Psycho World!" under the LNLT Entertainment label. Because of the "inappropriate content" of his album, the singer was fined by South Korean authorities. PSY was a newcomer to the hip-hop scene that stirred up Korean pop music. Thanks to his peculiar dance moves and unconventional appearance, PSY earned the nickname "weird singer."
The most famous hit of the singer is "Gangnam Style.
On November 24, 2012 his video for the song "Gangnam Style" became at that moment the most viewed video in the history of YouTube, and on December 21, 2012 for the first time in the history of YouTube and the Internet the number of views of one video ("Gangnam Style") exceeded 1 billion and at the beginning of 2023 is 4.6 billion views.
The music video for this track entered the Guinness Book of Records as the most liked video on the YouTube video portal in its history.
