"Chizh & Co is a Russian rock band formed in the early 1990s by guitarist, vocalist and songwriter Sergei Chigrakov, nicknamed "Chizh". The last studio album of the band so far was released in 1999. In March of 1993, the guitarist, singer and songwriter Sergey "Chizh" Chigrakov, who was playing in the band "Different People" at that time, gets the offer from Igor Berezovets and Andrei Burlaki to record a solo album. With the support of Boris Grebenshchikov he comes to St. Petersburg, where he records the album called simply "Chizh" on the "Osoaviakhim" label. As he did not have his own band at that moment, he was helped to record the album by the city's famous musicians: Boris Grebenshchikov and Sergey Berezovoy (Aquarium), Nikolay Korzinin (St. Petersburg band), Alexander Brovko and Mikhail Chernov (DDT). In autumn of the same year Sergey Chigrakov gave concerts in St. Petersburg. The accompanying band included guitarist Rodion Chikunov from the band Ulitsy, bassist Alexey Romaniuk known from the bands Style and Petlya Nesterova, and the famous session drummer Alexander Kondrashkin. Encouraged by the warm reception, Sergey Chigrakov decides to leave Different People, move to St. Petersburg and create his own band. On May 1, 1994 Chigrakov finally moved to St. Petersburg, where he began searching for musicians for a new band.
A month later Chigrakov put together the band Chizh and Company, which included Alexei Romanuk and drummer Vladimir Khanutin. A month later Mikhail Vladimirov joined them. They recorded the "live" album Live, which became the band's debut. In the same year the band released their first studio album - Perekrestok. Although Alexander Kondrashkin did not become a member of the band, he first collaborated with it as a percussionist.
The group's first producer was Elena Karpova, editor of the Main editorial office of musical programs of the Central Television, who promoted the group until 1996. The current lineup
