German rapper who is signed to Universal Music. Kontra K's music is created primarily in collaboration with its main producer The Cratez from Berlin. He markets himself as a boy from the street with a penchant for martial arts. Over the course of his rap career, not only his image but also his themes changed. His first rap albums (e.g. Dobermann, Fight Club Mixtape Vol. 1) sounded a lot like German gangsta rap. At least since the EP Wölfe in 2014 and the album From the Shadow into the Light in 2015, Kontra K has moved away from his “brutal image” of a boy from the street and thus also from classic gangsta rap and its typical lyrical elements. His more recent texts mainly contain lines in which he focuses on the topics of martial arts, “trying to get my listeners interested in sports films,” and motivation mixed with experiences from his own life. In an interview he said: “I have become a good person”.
