"The Rasmus" is a Finnish rock band formed in 1994 in the city of Helsinki, when the band members were still in high school[6]. It was founded by Lauri Julönen (his last name is usually misspelled as Ilonen in Russian-language media), Eero Heinonen, Pauli Rantasalmi and Jarno Lahti. Lahti was in the band until 1995, after leaving he was replaced by Janne Heiskanen. Heiskanen left the band in 1999, and was soon replaced by Aki Hakala. Pauli Rantasalmi left the band and was replaced by guitarist Emppu Suhonen in 2022. 5 million copies of the albums were sold worldwide, of which, about 350,000 copies in Finland. They have won many awards, both Finnish and international. The band is best known for their 2003 hit, the song "In the Shadows".
