The Killers announce new best-of album "Rebel Diamonds"

The Killers have announced a new best-of compilation album, Rebel Diamonds, set for release on December 8th via Island.

Rebel Diamonds will pull together a total of 20 tracks across all the studio albums in The Killers’ discography, from Hot Fuss to Pressure Machine. What’s more, it’ll boast a brand new song called “Spirit,” which press materials describe as an “anthem ready to be sung at festivals across the world.”

In addition to their greatest hits like “When You Were Young,” “All These Things That I’ve Done,” “Human,” and, of course, “Mr. Brightside,” Rebel Diamonds will also feature some deeper cuts that the band also consider essential to their catalog, like “Be Still” and “Dying Breed.” Arranged in chronological order, the record is a useful tool in reflecting on the band’s evolution over the years.

Speaking on the latest episode of the Consequence Podcast Network show Kyle Meredith With…, frontman Brandon Flowers touched on some of those more unexpected track inclusions. He called “Be Still” “a dark horse of a Killers song,” saying, “It’s just resonated with so many people over the years, and it’s even grown in my heart over the years.”

He went on to say the band intentionally put the spotlight on their “COVID records, so that they could get a light shined on them that maybe wasn’t.” Indeed, there are five tracks from Imploding the Mirage and Pressure Machine, albums that Flowers calls “some of our strongest writing.”

In a promo clip for the new compilation, Flowers also said, “See it’s been said that what’s remembered lives, and we’ve racked up stadiums full of memories the past 20 years, enough to fill lifetimes. Twenty songs for 20 years – Rebel Diamonds.”

Elsewhere durign Flowers’ appearance on Kyle Meredith With…, he discussed the future of the band and teased new music that could end up on a solo LP.
