Noel Gallagher Praises Liam’s Iconic Voice

In a rare moment of public praise, Noel Gallagher has lauded his brother and former Oasis bandmate, Liam Gallagher, in a recent interview celebrating the upcoming 30th anniversary of their legendary debut album, Definitely Maybe. Speaking with journalist John Robb at Manchester’s Sifters Records, Noel reflected on the band’s early days and the undeniable power of Liam’s voice.

“I can’t sing ‘Slide Away,’ ‘Cigarettes & Alcohol,’ or ‘Rock ‘N’ Roll Star’ the way Liam can,” Noel admitted. “I mean, I can do it, but it’s not the same. It’s his delivery, his tone, and his attitude. I don’t have the same attitude as him.”

Noel then delivered a colorful analogy to describe their vocal differences: “Liam’s voice is like a shot of tequila, and mine’s half a Guinness on a Tuesday. His is ten shots of tequila on a Friday night.” When Robb joked that mixing the two would be a bad idea, Noel quickly agreed.

Reflecting on the recording of Definitely Maybe classic “Supersonic,” Noel shared how Liam’s performance elevated the track. “When I sing ‘Supersonic,’ it sounds good. When he sings it, it sounds great,” Noel said, acknowledging that Liam’s raw energy added a menacing edge to the song.

Despite their well-documented feuds, Noel seemed to extend an olive branch, acknowledging Liam’s lasting influence. “What he did was inspire the kids at the front to do something. And he’s still doing that now,” he added, fueling ongoing rumors of an Oasis reunion.

While Liam has been open about wanting a reunion, even joking about sending Noel a box of chocolates as an apology, Noel has remained coy. Speculation has been rife, especially after Liam’s Definitely Maybe anniversary shows, with fans eagerly waiting for the Gallaghers to share the stage once more. Whether this latest round of compliments is a step towards a reunion or simply a nostalgic reflection remains to be seen.
