Sting Revives Rare Track "I Burn For You" Live After 34 Years

In a special moment for Sting fans, the legendary musician performed the elusive track I Burn For You live for the first time in 34 years during a concert in Ontario, Canada on September 21. This marks the song’s first live rendition since 1990, adding a touch of nostalgia to the show.

Originally written in the 1970s during Sting’s time with his first band, Last Exit, I Burn For You was later re-recorded by The Police in 1981. However, the song was never included in a full album, only making its way onto compilations, becoming one of Sting’s most sought-after rarities. The track has gained an almost mythic status among fans, making its unexpected return to the stage all the more thrilling.

Though Sting had teased the song in sound checks as recently as 2022, this was the first time it had been performed in front of a live audience in over three decades. Fans were treated to a truly rare experience as I Burn For You made its way into the setlist.

Earlier this year, the track was included in The Police’s Synchronicity boxset, further cementing its legacy within Sting’s storied career.

Beyond his own shows, Sting recently performed with Philippe Petit, the famed tightrope walker who recreated his iconic 1974 Twin Towers high-wire walk at Manhattan’s Cathedral of St. John the Divine. As Petit walked across the tightrope, Sting provided the soundtrack below, playing Fragile and Fields of Gold alongside a live orchestra. He also debuted a new song, Let the Great World Spin, which is set to feature in his upcoming musical about Petit.

Sting continues his North American tour, bringing both classic hits and rare gems like I Burn For You to audiences across the continent.
