Sabrina Carpenter and Christina Aguilera Share Hilarious “Mom” Moment

Pop stars Sabrina Carpenter and Christina Aguilera gave fans something to talk about after sharing a playful social media video, where Carpenter jokingly called Aguilera her “mom.” In a fun, Kardashians-inspired clip posted on Aguilera’s Instagram, the duo lip-synced to a viral audio from The Kardashians, in which Kylie Jenner famously declares her obsession with her mother, Kris Jenner.

As Carpenter pans the camera to reveal Aguilera, she lip-syncs, “That’s exactly what I’m saying,” before hugging the iconic Genie In A Bottle singer. Fans are already buzzing with excitement about what this duo has been cooking up.

Speculation is swirling that the two are working on a project related to the upcoming Spotify Anniversaries episode, celebrating the 25th anniversary of Aguilera’s groundbreaking debut album, out September 23. Rolling Stone reports that Carpenter and Machine Gun Kelly are set to duet with Aguilera in a special video series that will feature live performances and stories behind the making of the 1999 album.

On the other hand, fans are also wondering if this collaboration might be part of Carpenter’s upcoming Netflix holiday special, A Nonsense Christmas. The special promises musical and comedic guests, with Carpenter performing festive tunes from her Fruitcake Christmas EP, including a Christmas version of her hit single Nonsense.

In a recent interview with PAPER, Carpenter called Aguilera “one of my first idols” and said, “She’s very special to me. Those songs raised me.” Her love for Aguilera dates back to childhood, making this collaboration even more special for the young star.

Earlier this month, Carpenter won Song of the Year for Espresso at the 2024 MTV VMAs, where she performed a medley of hits, including Taste and Please, Please, Please. During the show, Carpenter paid homage to Britney Spears, briefly playing a clip from Oops!… I Did It Again – a nod that Spears later admitted she found “weird.”
