The Scene is an American pop-rock band that performs songs in English and Spanish. The band was formed in 2008 in Hollywood, California, USA. Along with vocalist and founding member Selena Gomez, the band also consists of guitarist Ethan Roberts, bassist Joey Clement, drummer Greg Herman and keyboardist Dan Forrest. According to Nielsen SoundScan, by December 2012, the band had sold more than 14.3 million digital copies of its discography in the U.S. alone, and more than 8.2 million records worldwide.
The band released its debut album, Kiss & Tell, on September 29, 2009. The album debuted at No. 9 on the U.S. Billboard chart .
The band's second studio album, A Year Without Rain, was released on September 17, 2010. It debuted on the Billboard 200 at position 4.
In 2010, Selena Gomez & the Scene performed and won "Favorite Breakout Artist" at the People's Choice Awards, beating out Justin Bieber and Kesha.
On March 14, 2011, the band's new single "Who Says" premiered. The song was announced as the lead single from the upcoming third album, which is titled When the Sun Goes Down. The project was recorded in the genre of electropop with elements of disco and dance-pop. The album features the likes of Katy Perry, who co-wrote the song "That's More Like It", Britney Spears, who co-wrote the song "Whiplash", and British singer Pixie Lott, who co-wrote and performed backing vocals on the song "We Own the Night". The album was released on June 28, 2011. The album debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 chart
The second single from the album was "Love You Like a Love Song". The song became a big hit in Russia: the song topped the Russian radio chart]. Moreover, the song still holds the record of the longest stay at the top of Tophit chart: the single topped the chart for 20 weeks.
