Cartoon is an Estonian band formed in 2015 by Hugo Martin Maasikas, Ago Teppand and Josep Järvesaar.
Education: Ago and Josep met in high school in Estonia in 2004, and met Hugo at a party organised by Ago.
Career: On 9 July 2015, Cartoon released the single ‘On & On’ featuring Daniel Levy. The song became a huge hit and racked up over 400 million views on the YouTube channel NoCopyrightSounds.
In 2016, Cartoon participated in the song contest ‘Eesti Laul 2016’ together with Kristel Aasleid with the song ‘Immortality’. In the final, she lost to Jüri Pootsmann and came in third place.
On 11 March 2016, Cartoon released the song ‘I Remember U’ (‘I Remember You’) featuring Estonian singer Jüri Pootsmann. The song reached number 1 on the Estonian Airplay chart.
Cartoon ceased operations in August 2017, but the band relaunched in 2020.
In early 2024, Cartoon announced that Ago Teppand would leave the project to pursue a solo career under the pseudonym ‘Jeja’. Hugo Maasikas and Josep Järvesaar continue Cartoon as a duo.
The band Cartoon participated with Evert Sundja in the Estonian selection for the Eurovision 2024 song contest Eesti Laul 2024 with the song ‘Oblivion’ (‘Oblivion’). They did not make it to the semi-finals
