Daniel Powter (born February 25, 1971 in Vernon, British Columbia, Canada) is a songwriter and performer in the soft-rock, pop-rock genre. Daniel became famous for the single "Bad Day," which he released in 2005 as part of the album Daniel Powter. The song stayed at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for five weeks and topped the Adult Top 40 and Adult Contemporary charts. Coca-Cola used this track for their advertising campaign in Europe. In 2006, Daniel won the Juno Awards for Best New Artist of the Year. Billboard magazine in 2006 named the track "Bad Day" as the song of the year.
