Jacob Collier (August 2, 1994, London) is an English singer, arranger, composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist. In 2012, his video covers of popular songs such as Stevie Wonder's "Don't You Worry 'bout a Thing" went viral on the YouTube platform. Jacob combines styles of jazz, a cappella, groove, folk, electronic, gospel, soul music, and improvisation, and sometimes incorporates heavy use of reharmonization into his pieces. In 2016 Collier released his debut album, In My Room, which was recorded, performed and produced entirely in a small room of his parents' home in the London borough of Finchley. In 2017, he was honored with two Grammy Awards for his compositions "Flintstones" and "You And I" from the album. In 2018, Jacob began work on a four-volume album, "Djesse," featuring 50 pieces, over two dozen artists and ensembles. The first album, "Djesse Vol. 1," was released in December 2018, and the second, "Djesse Vol. 2," in July 2019. As of December 2019, work on the first part of the project has earned Jacob two more Grammy nominations, for the pieces "All Night Long" (Djesse Vol. 1) and "Moon River" (Djesse Vol. 2). The album's third installment, "Djesse Vol. 3", which Collier describes as "Grounded in an electronic sound", was released on August 14, 2020.
