"Prime Minister" is a Russian pop band formed in 1997. The band represented Russia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2002 and took 10th place. The band was created by producer Evgeny Fridlyand. In 1998, they were contracted to record five albums over seven years[1]. The original lineup included:
Veaceslav Bodolica (born June 18, 1977 in Ungheni, Moldova)
Peter Jason (born September 9, 1976 in Moscow)
Jean Grigoriev-Milimerov (born December 5, 1979 in Moscow)
Dmitry Lansky (born May 15, 1978)
In 1999 his debut album, Dirty Dancing, was released.
In November 2001, Lansky left the group, and his place was taken by Marat Chanyshev (born on March 25, 1975 in Moscow), the winner of "Morning Star" (1991). In 2001 the band released a song "Two Diamonds", the same year a music video was released for it.
In 2002 the band represented Russia at Eurovision with the song "Northern Girl" and took 10th place with 55 points. The same year, the album "Girl from the North" was released, named after the Russian version of the song "Northern Girl", for which the band won the "Golden Gramophone" award.
In 2005 Peter Jason was fired from the band, and Taras Demchuk (born December 18, 1979) was hired instead. This change caused a conflict,[1] as a result of which the rest of the band members started working independently (Pete Jason joined them as well). As they didn't own the "Prime Minister" brand (the soloists lost the producer in court), they were forced to take a new name: "PM band". In addition, the new group had no right to perform Premier's songs.
Producer Evgeny Fridlyand recruited a new line-up of the "Prime Minister" band, in which Demchuk remained. In the following years, neither the renewed "Prime Minister" nor the "PM group" were able to achieve the popularity of the first group.
At the beginning of 2014, one of the members of "PM Group", Vyacheslav Bodolika, left the group, while the others - Peter, Jean, and Marat - decided to return to Friedland (without changing the name). In 2020, Jean left the group and pursued a solo career. In 2022, it was reported that Marat Chanyshev intended to leave the group and pursue a solo career. Current lineup
