Igor Armanovich Sarukhanov (April 6, 1956, Samarkand) is a Soviet and Russian pop-rock singer, guitarist, composer and poet. Honored Artist of Russia (1997), a member of the Russian Writers' Union and the Russian Composers' Union. He was born in Samarkand and has Armenian roots. His maternal ancestors came from Goris, and his paternal ancestors came from Stepanakert. My paternal great-grandfather was a wealthy man, was engaged in grain, timber, stone processing, and had several plants and factories. In 1921-22 during the famine in the Volga region, he sent there trains of grain from his factories. During the mass repressions, in order to avoid arrest and execution, he destroyed all documents and gave up his own property.[source not shown 213 days]
His father Armen Vaganovich Sarukhanov (1930-1991), a scientist, candidate of technical sciences, taught at a technical university. Mother Roza Ashotovna Sarukhanova (1932-1991), teacher of Russian language and literature.

Brother Vagan Sarukhanov (1960). Igor Sarukhanov's solo career began in 1985 as part of the program of the World Festival of Youth and Students in Moscow (on it he won first prize in the competition for the best song about Moscow - "Moscow Expanse"). In 1986 he released his first gigantic CD "If We Go The Way We Wanted". From that moment he began to tour actively. In 1984 at the International Festival in Sopot (Poland) he was awarded the first prize as the author of the song "Behind the steep turn" (performed by Anne Veski). In 1988 he participated at the International Festival "Bratislava Lyre" (Czechoslovakia). In 1990 the first professional video clip was shot for the song "Barber" by Igor Sarukhanov (director - Mikhail Khleborodov).
In 2008 he took part in the project "Superstar 2008. Dream Team. In 2022 he became a guest at the second semi-final of the third season of the show "Mask" on NTV as a teddy bear.
