Valery Leontiev (Valery Yakovlevich Leontiev, born March 19, 1949 in Ust-Usa, Komi, Russia) is a Russian performer, composer, actor and dancer. He works in the genre of pop, dance-pop, disco, pop-rock, electro-pop. Valery's musical career began in 1972, when he won a song contest in Syktyvkar. In 1981, the singer began to cooperate with David Tukhmanov, that led him to the big stage. Since 1984 Valery works together with Raimonds Pauls and records at that time his debut studio singles "Green Light", "Hypodynamia", "Eclipse of the Heart", "Gone are the Sunny Days", "Years of Wandering". The songs immediately became popular and were at the top of the radio charts for a long time. Leontiev began to perform show programs in Russia and abroad. In 1991 Valery won the World Music Awards, and in 1996 he received the title "People's Artist of the Russian Federation".
