Annie Lennox (English: Annie Lennox; December 25, 1954, Aberdeen, Scotland) is a Scottish singer and songwriter. During her career, she has been awarded an Oscar, a Golden Globe, four Grammys and a record eight BRIT Awards.
Lennox achieved her greatest success in the early 1990s when she began her solo career, releasing the album Diva in 1992. In total, she has released five studio albums and several compilations.
Annie Lennox has been included in Rolling Stone's list of the "100 Greatest Performers of All Time". She was awarded the title of "Britain's Most Successful Musician" due to her commercial success. The singer is one of the best-selling musicians with sales of over 80 million records worldwide.
Annie Lennox is actively involved in charity work (fighting for the rights of women and lesbians, for the preservation of forests, against poverty, the HIV epidemic, etc.). She is a UNAIDS Goodwill Ambassador. In 2011, she was awarded the Order of the British Empire.
