The Killers is an American alternative rock band formed in 2001 by Brandon Flowers and Dave Koenig. The name was taken from the New Order music video "Crystal" (2001), where the fake band performs under that name. The Killers' music is most clearly influenced by the bands New Order, Duran Duran, U2, and Oasis.
The band has released seven studio albums: Hot Fuss (2004), Sam's Town (2006), Day & Age (2008), Battle Born (2012), Wonderful Wonderful (2017), Imploding the Mirage (2020) and Pressure Machine (2021). The first five albums hit top sales in the U.K. and Ireland and sold more than 25 million copies worldwide. The band has also released the Sawdust compilation (2007), the live album Live from the Royal Albert Hall (2009) and a collection of their best songs called Direct Hits (2013).
