World-renowned guitarist Joe Satriani recently announced the release of his 19th studio album, The Elephants of Mars. The album will be released on April 8, 2022.

"The Elephants Of Mars" exudes an exciting new energy, taking adventurous forays into different stylistic territories, and as such seems fresh, as if Satriani's familiar playing style were looked at with new eyes. The new single "Faceless" shows the melodic, soulful side of the album. Satriani says, "'Faceless' is written about loneliness. When you want a person to see you for who you are, but they don't seem to know you at all. This theme can also be projected into a society where people know each other less and less, where they are more and more divided by differences, and where shared hopes and dreams are stripped of their unifying role. Solo Party conveys that moment when the true essence of the individual breaks free."

With all time constraints gone in 2020, "The Elephants Of Mars" was the album Satriani had always hoped to record with his band. "We did everything," he says. - We tried the craziest ideas. And we were testing all the variations we had on how to put something backwards or upside down to see what would happen." Likewise, everyone else on the record took liberties with the songs, showing a side of themselves that had previously been in the shadows.

For three decades, this virtuoso guitarist has toured the world, playing sold-out concerts as both a headliner and a founding member of the "G3" guitar show. Satriani's studio and live recordings have sold over 10 million copies worldwide, two of them have gone platinum and four more have gone gold, and along the way the musician has earned 15 Grammy nominations. The debut album of his side project Chickenfoot, featuring former Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar, former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, also earned gold status, and his second album debuted at No. 9 on the charts.
