Q-Tip (Kamaal Ibn John Fareed; born Jonathan William Davis, born April 10, 1970, Harlem, New York) is an American rapper, producer and actor, a member of the group A Tribe Called Quest. Allmusic named him "Best Performer and Producer in Hip-Hop History" and About.com listed him as one of the fifty best hip-hop producers, as well as one of the fifty best MCs of our time (1987-2007).
After breaking up A Tribe Called Quest in 1998, the rapper continued his career as a hip-hop singer. His first singles "Vivrant Thing" and "Breathe & Stop" were released on the Arista Records label, followed by the album Amplified. His next album Kamaal/The Abstract was not released until 2009 on the Battery Records label.
In 2008, the artist released The Renaissance, which was nominated for a Grammy.
