J.Cole - Jermaine Lamar Cole (born January 28, 1985, Frankfurt am Main, Darmstadt, Hesse, Germany) is an American hip-hop singer, music producer and basketball player. He became widely known after the release of his debut mixtape The Come Up. Cole's debut studio album Cole World: The Sideline Story debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 charts. The artist's next two projects, namely Born Sinner and 2014 Forest Hills Drive, were met with positive reviews from music critics. In addition, at the 58th Grammy Awards, 2014 Forest Hills Drive was nominated in the Best Rap Album category, and became the first rap album in 25 years to achieve platinum verification without a guest verse on the album. Among other things, Cole has produced his own tracks as well as those of other artists such as Kendrick Lamar and Janet Jackson throughout his career. In turn, he is the creator of the Dreamville Records label. In January 2015, the artist decided to rent the home he spent his childhood in, 2014 Forest Hill Drive, Fayetteville, N.C., to single mothers for free. On December 9, 2016, Cole released his fourth studio album, titled 4 Your Eyez Only, and on April 20, 2018, he unveiled his fifth studio album, KOD. On May 14, 2021, J. Cole released his sixth studio album, The Off-Season. Married, he has two sons.
