Pharrell Williams Brings Joy to Notre Dame Reopening

In a moment steeped in history and music, Pharrell Williams marked the grand reopening of Paris’ iconic Notre Dame Cathedral with a powerful performance of his global hit ‘Happy’. The event, held on December 7, symbolized a vibrant new chapter for the 850-year-old landmark, which suffered devastating damage during a 2019 fire.

Joining Pharrell on stage was Voices Of Fire, a 70-member gospel choir helmed by his uncle, Bishop Ezekiel Williams. Their soulful rendition turned the celebration into a moment of unity and upliftment.

“An honour to perform at the reopening with @VoicesOfFire,” Pharrell shared on Instagram. “A historic moment we’re so blessed to have been a part of. Merci.”

The ceremony was attended by a host of international figures, including President-elect Donald Trump and Prince William, further underscoring the global significance of the occasion.

The cathedral’s tragic fire in 2019 shocked the world, prompting emotional tributes from across the arts. Christine and the Queens called it a “heartbreaking” loss, mourning the history and cultural heritage that seemed to go up in flames.

Meanwhile, Pharrell continues to make waves in pop culture. Last month, his LEGO-inspired biopic Piece By Piece debuted, directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Morgan Neville. The film features appearances by Daft Punk, Gwen Stefani, Timbaland, and Justin Timberlake, showcasing the vibrant world of Pharrell's musical legacy.
