Jimmy Page has teamed up with Gibson once again to deliver a modern marvel of guitar craftsmanship: the EDS-1275 Doubleneck VOS. This new release pays homage to one of rock’s most iconic instruments while celebrating Gibson’s 130th anniversary.
Designed in close collaboration with Page himself, the EDS-1275 Doubleneck VOS is a meticulous recreation of the instrument that defined Led Zeppelin’s legendary live performances. Crafted by Gibson Custom, this double-neck beast features a one-piece mahogany body, bound Indian rosewood fretboards, and striking parallelogram inlays. Both necks boast a 12” radius, delivering the versatility required for Page’s intricate blend of six- and twelve-string arrangements.
The guitar is steeped in rock ‘n’ roll lore. First introduced to Page in 1971, the original EDS-1275 became synonymous with live renditions of "Stairway to Heaven", as well as classics like "The Rain Song", "Celebration Day", and "Tangerine". Page even wielded it during a stirring tribute to Link Wray at the 2023 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
“It’s more than an instrument—it’s a piece of history,” Gibson said in a statement, emphasizing the meticulous use of 3D scanning and hand-crafting techniques to recreate Page’s guitar in its prime.
This release marks the second double-neck model from Gibson’s collaboration with the rock legend in 2024. Earlier this year, Page introduced a limited-edition Collector’s model of the EDS-1275, and in October, he debuted a run of 1964 SJ-200 guitars, modeled after the one he used to record Led Zeppelin I in 1969.
Page’s connection with Gibson stretches back decades, a bond he celebrated earlier this year alongside Brian May and Tony Iommi at the opening of the Gibson Garage in London. “Picking up that Les Paul Custom and the Doubleneck all those years ago was one of the best decisions of my life,” Page reflected at the event.
Gibson’s anniversary celebrations have also included other tributes, such as the ‘YardBurst’ 1959 Les Paul Custom, dedicated to Jeff Beck. With the release of the EDS-1275 Doubleneck VOS, Gibson continues to cement its legacy at the heart of rock history.
