The Rolling Stones have announced a special edition re-release of their 2023 album ‘Hackney Diamonds’ to celebrate the one-year anniversary of its groundbreaking release. The reissue features a double LP pressed on “clear blue splatter” vinyl, a striking collector’s item for fans. Alongside the album’s original tracks, this edition includes seven live recordings from the album’s launch party in New York, including the star-studded performance of “Sweet Sounds of Heaven” featuring Lady Gaga.
Released in October 2023, ‘Hackney Diamonds’ marked the Stones' return to the studio after nearly two decades, following 2005’s ‘A Bigger Bang’. The album boasted collaborations with music legends like Elton John, Paul McCartney, and Stevie Wonder, and notably featured the final recordings of the band’s late drummer Charlie Watts.
Ronnie Wood recently spoke about the energy of the new tracks and their potential live performances, emphasizing the band's ambition. “We could play the whole album live,” Wood commented, acknowledging the balance between the new material and their legendary back catalog.
The Stones’ ‘Hackney Diamonds’ North American tour, which ran from April to July, included 20 dates, showcasing the new album alongside their classic hits.
In other news, former bassist Bill Wyman recently shared his reflections on the band’s early years, describing the tough touring conditions during the '80s and early '90s and expressing regret about not leaving the band sooner.
