1944 - Patti LaBelle is born Patricia Louise Holt in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

1956 - Larry Blackmon (frontman for Cameo) is born in New York City.

1969 - The Guess Who make their first appearance on American television, performing "These Eyes" and "Laughing" on American Bandstand.
1975 - Earth, Wind & Fire's "Shining Star," a song that reflects the band's values of clean living and spiritual well-being, reaches #1 in America.

1977 - Marc Bolan plays his last show with T. Rex.
1977 - Emerson, Lake & Palmer launch an extravagant, 11-month tour at Freedom Hall in Louisville, Kentucky, featuring a 70-piece orchestra, 63 roadies, a choir, and a karate instructor for drummer Carl Palmer. Despite its grandeur, the tour turns out to be a financial catastrophe.
