Massive Attack Cancel US Tour Amid "Unforeseen Circumstances"

Trip-hop pioneers Massive Attack have pulled the plug on their much-anticipated US tour, which was set to mark their return to the American stage for the first time in five years. Originally scheduled to kick off on October 17 at Atlanta's Coca-Cola Roxy Theatre, the tour included stops in Washington, D.C., Boston, and New York, and a high-profile appearance at Miami's III Points Festival.

In a statement posted to Instagram, the band expressed their regret: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, Massive Attack must regrettably cancel their upcoming performance at III Points Festival in Miami FL on October 19th, as well as their shows in Atlanta GA, Washington DC, Boston MA, and Forest Hills NY. We appreciate your understanding at the time.” They thanked fans for their understanding, though further details regarding the cancellation remain unknown.

This cancellation follows their headline appearance at a pioneering low-carbon concert in their hometown of Bristol in August, where they were joined by artists like Killer Mike and Lankum. The event aimed to redefine how sustainable live performances can be executed on a large scale, and Massive Attack continues to push these boundaries.

Despite the US tour setback, the band isn’t slowing down their mission. Massive Attack has already lined up a similar set of eco-conscious shows in Liverpool this November, joined by IDLES and Nile Rodgers. The concerts are part of the city's recognition as the world’s first 'UN Accelerator City' for climate change. The dates, set for November 28 to 30, aim to once again showcase how live music can lead the charge for sustainability.
