Niall Horan has announced that he’s stepping back from the spotlight, but fans needn’t worry—the Irish pop star has promised to return with a brand-new album.
The former One Direction member wrapped up his massive 2024 ‘The Show’ world tour last week, celebrating his third solo album, released in June 2023. But as he closed out the final show of the tour at the Movistar Arena in Bogota, Colombia, Horan told fans that they won’t be seeing him for a while.
“This stands from tomorrow onwards, you’ll never find me,” he joked, adding, “I’m gonna be hungover as f**k tomorrow! And I’m gonna disappear for a while. I’m gonna make you guys a brand new album and I will be back, I promise.”
Reflecting on the whirlwind tour, which included 87 shows, Niall took to social media to share his gratitude, writing: “The past 8 months have just been incredible. I’ll never be able to thank you all enough for what you’ve done for me. Every single one of you who came out to each show and made it all an unforgettable experience. Let’s do it all again sometime. Love you.”
Horan’s third album, The Show, marked a more mature sound for the 30-year-old singer. In an interview with NME before the album’s release, Horan said, “I think with pandemics and relationships and things like that, you subconsciously grow as a person. And then production wise and what I’m saying [lyrically], it just sounds like something that a 30-year-old would release. Not a youthful version of what I did before.”
While fans might miss him in the coming months, Horan’s hiatus means he’ll be hard at work creating more music. His promise of a new album is enough to keep anticipation high until his eventual return.
