David Gilmour Considers Selling Pink Floyd’s Catalogue

David Gilmour, legendary guitarist of Pink Floyd, has revealed that selling the band’s extensive music catalogue is more appealing to him for personal reasons than financial gain. In a recent interview, Gilmour shared that the idea of offloading the catalogue—which could fetch around $500 million (£381 million) according to the Financial Times—would be a “dream” because it would allow him to distance himself from former bandmate Roger Waters.

Gilmour expressed that his main motivation isn’t the massive payday but rather the opportunity to “be rid of the decision-making and the arguments that are involved with keeping it going.” He referred to the ongoing tensions with Waters as a “mud bath” that he’s eager to leave behind.

The strained relationship between Gilmour and Waters has been well-documented over the years, recently escalating when Gilmour accused Waters of anti-Semitism—a charge Waters has vehemently denied.

In the interview, Gilmour also stated that he finds the ongoing feud with Waters “boring” and irrelevant to his life now. “He left our pop group when I was in my 30s, and I’m a pretty old chap now, and the relevance of it is not there,” Gilmour commented.

As he looks to move past the drama, Gilmour is also preparing to release his first album of new material in nine years. Titled ‘Luck and Strange,’ the album is set to drop on September 6.
