Drake and PartyNextDoor Announce Joint Album at Toronto Show

Drake made a surprise appearance this weekend, announcing that he is working on an album with PartyNextDoor. The reveal came during PartyNextDoor’s show at Toronto’s Budweiser Stage on Friday night (August 2), where Drake performed for over an hour, delighting his hometown fans.

“On behalf of me and Party, we’ve been working on something for y’all,” Drake told the audience towards the end of the concert. “So, you get the summer over with, you do what you need to do. I know all you girls are outside. When it gets a little chilly, PartyNextDoor and Drake album will be waiting right there for you.”

Drake expressed his gratitude to the fans, saying he was there “as a thank you, to each and every one of you for all your years of unwavering support,” especially in light of the increasing popularity of the Kendrick Lamar diss track, "Not Like Us".

The set kicked off with Drake’s 2015 remix of "Sweeterman" by Ramriddlz, followed by the live debut of "Wah Gwan Delilah". The energy was electric as Drake smoothly transitioned between hits, keeping the crowd on their feet.

In June, rapper Snowd4y shared a remix and cover of Plain White T’s "Hey There Delila"’ featuring a verse from Drake. The track, filled with parody-esque lyrics and a wealth of autotune, quickly went viral. The Plain White T’s even took to social media to share their disbelief, with Tom Higgenson humorously suggesting the track seemed so strange it might be AI-generated. “That’s not Drake,” Higgenson said, laughing.

During his performance, Drake treated fans to a selection of deep cuts and fan favorites including "Connect", "Practice", "Finesse", "Redemption", and "Pipe Down". He praised PartyNextDoor, calling him the “King of R&B”, before the duo wrapped up the night with their 2016 collaboration "Come and See Me".

Drake’s appearance and the announcement of the upcoming album have set the internet ablaze with anticipation. “This is for you,” Drake said, emphasizing the bond between him and his fans. “When it gets a little chilly, PartyNextDoor and Drake album will be waiting right there for you.”

In other news, Drake recently quoted rival Kendrick Lamar’s "Not Like Us" in a cheeky response to an impersonator dancing along to "Hotline Bling". He also appeared on two new tracks from producer Gordo’s latest album "Diamante."
