Swift Strikes Again: New Album Version Aims to Dethrone Eilish

Taylor Swift has once again surprised her fans with another variant of her album "The Tortured Poets Department". Announced by Taylor Nation (@TaylorNation13) on Twitter/X, the official account for Swift’s team, fans were informed they could now “hear the Chairman fit the puzzle pieces of one of our favorite tracks together on the new #TSTTPD digital album + bonus track”.

On Saturday (August 3), it was revealed that this iteration includes a “First Draft Phone Memo” version of ‘My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys’, which is available for only 24 hours.

For some observers, this move seems fairly transparent. Following the album's return to Number One on the Billboard charts, it appears that the "Anti-Hero" singer is strategically aiming for a 14th week at the top by releasing another limited-time-only variation – nearly 40 versions have been released so far.

Fans have speculated that this release was timed to block Charli XCX and Billie Eilish from charting with their recently released albums, "Brat" and "Hit Me Hard and Soft." When both artists teamed up on "Guess", Swift promptly released another variant of her album, as critics predicted.

Eilish and XCX’s song has achieved the biggest debut for an all-female remix in global Spotify chart history, surpassing Swift and Ice Spice’s efforts on "Karma."

While some of Swift's fans defended her, insisting she was “allowed to be strategic,” others accused her of greed and sexism. One fan wrote: “She needs to see a psychiatrist ASAP to deal with her misogynistic obsession with Billie and Charli.” Another added: “She could sell a bag of air she breathed in and Swifties would buy it.”

Swift recently praised the efforts of Team USA in an Olympics promo video, telling the athletes: “Never be afraid to show them who you are, especially when the whole world is watching. Because there is no one way to be the best.”
