Lizzo Celebrates Growth and Teases New Album

Lizzo is radiating positivity and self-love as she reflects on her mental health journey. In a recent Instagram post (August 27), the 36-year-old singer shared an inspiring video comparing her current self to how she looked three years ago, highlighting the incredible progress she’s made—not just physically, but mentally and emotionally as well.

“I wasn’t gonna post this on IG but 2021 me would be soooo proud of 2024 me,” Lizzo wrote in the caption, making it clear that her transformation goes far beyond appearance. “And I’m NOT only talking about my body,” she added. “If y’all only KNEWWWW what I’ve done for my mental & emotional health in the last year…”

Hinting at even more to come, the “About Damn Time” hitmaker teased her fans with the promise of new music: “Wheeeew don’t worry imma write an album about it.”

This heartwarming update comes just days after Lizzo announced that she’s taking a “gap year” to focus on “protecting my peace.” The singer shared a serene video of herself enjoying the rain, a visual representation of the calm she’s striving to maintain.

While fans might have to wait a bit longer for her next album—following 2022’s Special—the wait will undoubtedly be worth it, given the personal growth Lizzo has experienced.

Earlier this year, Lizzo faced legal challenges when three former tour dancers filed a lawsuit against her, alleging misconduct and a toxic work environment. Lizzo strongly denied these accusations, calling them “sensationalized stories,” and the case was put on hold in March pending appeals.

Despite the public scrutiny and personal battles, Lizzo has remained open about her struggles with mental health. In March, she candidly shared her frustrations on social media, stating, “I’m constantly up against lies being told about me for clout & views… being the butt of the joke every single time because of how I look… my character being picked apart by people who don’t know me.”

She later clarified that she was only quitting “giving any negative energy attention.” By May, she shared a hopeful update, saying, “I’m the happiest I’ve been in 10 months… My smile reaches my eyes again and that’s a win.”
