The Cure Unveil Eco-Friendly Vinyl Release Featuring Two New Songs

Iconic British band The Cure is set to make waves in the music and environmental worlds with the release of a special edition eco-friendly vinyl. The new record, The Cure – Novembre: Live in France 2022, will feature live recordings of two previously unreleased songs, “And Nothing Is Forever” and “I Can Never Say Goodbye.” This limited-edition vinyl, dropping on October 1st, will see all profits directed to EarthPercent, the climate charity founded by music legend Brian Eno.

This initiative is part of the Naked Record Club, known for producing sustainable vinyl records. The eco-vinyl used in this release is crafted with a process that significantly reduces energy consumption—by up to 90%—compared to traditional methods. Only 5,000 copies of the 12-inch record will be available, with the first 100 personally signed by The Cure’s frontman, Robert Smith.

Brian Eno expressed his gratitude for the band’s involvement, stating, “I’d like to thank the Cure and Naked Record Club – both true innovators – for their generous support of vital climate projects … It’s a powerful example of how the music community can work together to build a better world.”

Naked Record Club’s co-founder Simon Parker shared his excitement about the collaboration, recalling his teenage admiration for The Cure’s 1985 album The Head on the Door. “When I bought The Head on the Door back in 1985, the teenage version of myself was shown a different way to live my life … So, when Robert Smith told me he wanted to work with Naked Record Club to raise climate change awareness in the music industry, I was astonished, excited and dumbstruck in equal measures.”

The eco-vinyl is made from non-toxic polyethylene terephthalate (PET), the world’s most recyclable plastic, commonly used in everyday items like water bottles. The record’s production process is not only energy-efficient but also environmentally responsible, with plastic-free packaging and sustainably sourced materials.

The two tracks featured on the record were recorded during The Cure’s November 2022 shows in Montpellier and Toulouse. The live lineup includes Robert Smith on vocals and six-string bass, alongside longtime bandmates Simon Gallup, Jason Cooper, Roger O’Donnell, Reeves Gabrels, and Perry Bamonte.

As fans eagerly anticipate the band’s long-awaited album Songs of a Lost World, it remains to be seen whether these new tracks will also feature on that release. For now, this eco-conscious project offers a unique way to experience The Cure’s latest music while supporting a cause that matters.
