Following TopHit, streaming services Apple Music and Spotify published their annual charts of the most popular artists.
Spotify combined the 2023 music results with an update of user features and presented the results in the form of colorful and stylish cards, updating Spotify Wrapped. Taylor Swift, Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny, and Canadian urban/r'n'b phenomenon The Weeknd rounded out the top 3 most popular global artists. Bad Bunny also earned the top spot for most popular album of the year, surprisingly beating Taylor Swift. The coolest song in streaming turned out to be by pop star Miley Cyrus. Admittedly, it is the ultra-melodic hit "Flowers" that many will remember the passing year of 2023.
Apple Music, in turn, presented the top 10 most listened to songs in 2023, the rating was based on the Top Songs chart, Shazam was also used, which only strengthened the status of the chart. Of course, the first line got Taylor Swift, in Apple Music most of all streamed tracks of the American singer, for the first 10 months in the Global Daily Top 100 were 65 songs from Swift's discography, the artist again broke all kinds of records. Unlike Spotify, Apple Music's streaming service did not honor Miley Cyrus as the Global Song of the Year, but country sensation Morgan Wallen, whose megahit "Last Night" was enjoyed by many millions of Apple Music subscribers.
