Adele Announces Hiatus from Music After Munich Residency

Adele is taking a significant break from music following her highly anticipated concert residency in Munich. The British superstar revealed to German broadcaster ZDF that she’s feeling drained after her extensive run in Las Vegas. "My tank is quite empty from being on stage every weekend in Las Vegas. I don’t have any plans for new music, at all. I want a big break after this and I think I want to do other creative things just for a little while,” she admitted.

With her “Weekends With Adele” residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas set to wrap up on November 23, Adele is gearing up for a summer residency in Munich. She will perform two concerts per week for five weeks at a specially constructed stadium, marking a unique chapter in her career.

The Munich concerts are generating significant buzz, with 95% of tickets already sold. The stage will feature an enormous 220-meter long by 30-meter high screen, designed to create an intimate atmosphere for the 80,000 attendees. "The screen is enormous… it will make 80,000 people feel like it’s just me and one of them," Adele noted.

The concert venue, covering 400,000 square meters, includes a 13,000-seat "Adele World" food hall complete with an English-style pub. Despite the grand setup, Adele expects a quieter reception compared to her Vegas crowds. "European fans are a bit quieter, so maybe that’s because they’re more polite, whereas Americans can be very, very loud,” she said.

Her “Weekends With Adele” residency has been widely acclaimed, with viral moments stemming from her candid interactions with fans. Before her Munich stint, Adele made headlines attending Euro 2024, where she humorously told the Dutch crowd to "shut up" before a crucial penalty kick.

Adele's latest album, 30, released in November 2021, dominated charts in both the UK and US, becoming the best-selling album of the year in the US within a single day. The lead single, "Easy on Me," also topped charts worldwide.

As Adele prepares for this major European engagement, her hiatus promises to be a well-deserved rest, allowing her to explore other creative ventures. Fans will undoubtedly be eagerly awaiting her return.
