Eagles Soar Again: Sphere Residency Extended Amidst Legal Drama

The Eagles are back, and they’re making sure you know it. After months of speculation, the legendary band confirmed their Sphere residency in Nevada with an initial eight-show run. But due to an overwhelming demand from their loyal fanbase, they’ve already extended it not once, but twice! Now, they’re adding four more dates, stretching their stay into 2025. A tweet from Live Nation summed it up: "overwhelming demand," leading to a grand total of 20 shows from September 20 to January 25.

The Eagles will be the fourth band to rock the Sphere’s state-of-the-art stage, following U2, Phish, and Dead & Company. The newly added dates will take place over two weekends in January, from Friday the 17th to Saturday the 25th. This extension is part of their ongoing farewell tour, the ‘Long Goodbye,’ which started back in September last year and will now run into 2025. The band’s plan? To play "as many shows in each market as their audience demands."

But it’s not all smooth sailing in Eagles-land. Last month, Don Henley filed a lawsuit demanding the return of his handwritten notes and lyrics from the iconic "Hotel California" album.

Henley’s new lawsuit, filed on June 27 in New York federal court, targets rare books dealer Glenn Horowitz, former Rock & Roll Hall of Fame curator Craig Inciardi, and rock memorabilia seller Edward Kosinski. The lawsuit comes after a previous case against three collectibles experts in March was dropped, with the judge accusing Henley of "manipulating" prosecutors by withholding evidence.

Henley’s lawyer, Daniel Petrocelli, stated: “These 100 pages of personal lyric sheets belong to Mr. Henley and his family, and he has never authorized defendants or anyone else to peddle them for profit.”

Meanwhile, lawyers for Kosinski and Inciardi have labeled the lawsuit “baseless,” arguing that Henley’s original trial was dismissed due to his misleading the prosecution. Kosinski’s lawyer added, “Don Henley is desperate to rewrite history,” and they’re eager to counter-sue to hold him accountable for his "repeated lies and misuse of the justice system."

Inciardi’s lawyer, Stacey Richman, claimed the lawsuit was an attempt to “bully” and perpetuate a false narrative. Horowitz’s lawyer did not respond to requests for comment.

As the Eagles prepare to take the stage at the Sphere, their fans can look forward to an unforgettable series of shows. And while the drama unfolds behind the scenes, one thing’s for sure: the Eagles are still flying high.
