Cher Announces Two-Part Memoir Revealing “Intimate” Details of Her Life

Cher, the iconic music legend, has announced the release of her highly-anticipated two-part memoir, set to unveil the "intimate" details of her life. The first part is slated to drop on November 19 via HarperCollins, with the second part expected next year.

According to the synopsis, "With her trademark honesty and humor, 'Cher: The Memoir' traces how this diamond in the rough succeeded with no plan and little confidence to become the trailblazing superstar the world has been unable to ignore for more than half a century."

The memoir's first installment will delve into her extraordinary beginnings, her tumultuous relationship with Sonny Bono, and the rise to fame that followed. The book promises to reveal Cher as the daughter, sister, wife, lover, mother, and superstar she truly is. It's a life so immense, it couldn't be contained in just one book.

HarperCollins Publishers describes it as, “After more than seventy years of fighting to live her life on her own terms, Cher finally reveals her true story in intimate detail.”

Last year, the "Turn Back Time" singer opened up about her renewed efforts to complete her memoir after initially "chickening out." Appearing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, she candidly shared, "I just totally chickened out. I didn’t put in some things that needed to be put in. And they’re not comfortable, but they need to be put in so I have to go back and man up."

She joked, “I’ve lived too long and done too much and so it’s like it should be the encyclopedia.” She then playfully added, “Not that you guys know what that is.”

In 2018, Cher first announced her plans to write an autobiography, hinting it would be accompanied by a biopic. However, she has admitted to struggling with the project, especially when it comes to casting and scriptwriting. During an interview on The Graham Norton Show, she said, “It is the hardest thing. I have lived too long and done so much, it is very hard to cast, and we haven’t even finished the script.”

Cher's memoir is set to be a compelling read, offering fans an unprecedented look into the life of a true icon. With her characteristic blend of humor and candidness, it's bound to be as unforgettable as the star herself.
