Emily Eavis’ Dream: Kate Bush to Headline Glastonbury

Emily Eavis, the mastermind behind Glastonbury, has revealed her ultimate headliner wish: the legendary Kate Bush.

As Glastonbury gears up to rock Worthy Farm, Somerset from June 26-30, headliners Dua Lipa, Coldplay, and SZA are set to light up the Pyramid Stage. The lineup is packed with stars like Shania Twain, LCD Soundsystem, Little Simz, The National, Avril Lavigne, The Last Dinner Party, Jungle, Justice, Bloc Party, Fontaines D.C., Yard Act, Arlo Parks, and Gossip.

In a candid chat on the BBC’s Sidetracked podcast, Eavis shared her headliner dreams with hosts Annie Macmanus and Nick Grimshaw. When asked about her dream booking, she didn’t hesitate: Kate Bush. Despite Bush’s elusive nature—she hasn't graced the stage since her 2014 Hammersmith Apollo residency, her first full shows since 1979—Eavis remains hopeful. “I hope it will happen one day,” she mused. “I mean, Elton was a pipe dream and it happened, so you never know.”

Eavis also hinted that Glastonbury might take a breather in 2026. “The fallow year is important because it gives the land a rest, and it gives the cows a chance to stay out for longer and reclaim their land.”

The last fallow year was in 2018, although the festival was also paused in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic. “I think it’s important, I think it gives everybody time to just switch off and the public as well,” Eavis explained. “Then you kind of go away for a bit and it feels lovely when you come back. And I think it’s quite good not to be seen to be cashing in.”

So, while we bask in the brilliance of this year’s lineup, let's keep our fingers crossed for a future where Kate Bush might just enchant Glastonbury with her ethereal presence.
