I’ve dropped a banger that’s gonna blow everyone away. But how do I measure success?

In our last post, we shared how to get your track on the radio via TopHit and turn it into a genuine hit. This time, we’ll cover how to measure and secure that success and how much it might cost to push your track to the top. So, how does TopHit measure a track’s success?

1. Fan Base. The number of fans who clicked your TopHit link, listened to your track, and liked it. If you shared the link to your track page, your fans will definitely use it. Thousands or tens of thousands of fans, streams, and likes is an excellent result. A good result is between a hundred and a thousand active fans. Remember, your fans’ activity directly impacts your track’s ranking. More fans and likes mean a higher ranking. No engagement means no success.

2. Donations. The donations from your fans, friends, and family influence how fast your hit and you as an artist get promoted. Also, the donation amount slightly boosts your rating. But most importantly, donations allow you to buy prime banner spaces and make a big splash with your track premiere. Buying a banner on TopHit’s main page with real money costs $260 a day. But if you get enough donations, your banner becomes a reality.

3. TopHit Daily Trends Chart. This chart is your first step to success. If you make it to the Top 10 trending tracks on TopHit, it means your track is loved by fans, radio stations, and labels, and you’re on the right path. It’s hard to get in and easy to fall out, but if your track stays there for a few days, that’s already a success!

4. Track Rating. The more stars, the more likely radio stations will play your track, and the cheaper it will be to promote it on TopHit. Possible ratings:

• 10 stars — best result, all further promotion is free

• 8-9 stars — excellent result, distribution costs about $250

• 6-7 stars — good test, further distribution costs about $400

• 4-5 stars — satisfactory, further work with the track costs about $600

• 3 stars or less means your track isn’t as liked by professionals and fans, and you should test your next hit.

5. Number of radio stations that downloaded and aired your track.

• Over 100 stations — excellent result, potentially a million listeners

• Dozens of stations — good, audience of 10-100 thousand listeners

• A few radio stations — not bad, a few thousand potential fans never hurt

6. Number of track airplays.

• Tens of thousands of airplays a week mean you’re a superstar, and your track is topping charts

• Thousands of airplays a week mean you’re a known artist, and your booking agent is super busy

• Hundreds of airplays mean you’re not at the top yet, but some people know and love you

• Less than a hundred airplays a week is your learning experience on the path to success

7. Remixes of your track, their airplays and streams, video streams, TikToks on your track — this “long tail” shows the success of your hit.

8. Rising royalty payments from radio stations and online platforms, сalls from promoters inviting you to gigs with promising fees, labels wanting to sign you, and offers from stars for collaborations — all these prove your hit has made it.

The promotion tools we discussed are available to you. Can you really call hundreds of radio stations and send them your track yourself? Can you “seed” your music online, buy an audience, grow a fan base, collect donations, and delve into marketing and PR? Can you personally visit dozens of clubs and organize a concert premiere of your new album? Probably, yes, you can.

But we think the best thing you can do is write songs. So, let TopHit.com handle the tedious, daily work of promoting your tracks and collecting your success stats. While we push you and your hits forward, keep writing new songs that will blow everyone’s minds. We’re eagerly waiting for them!
