Green Day Forced to Speed Up Set as Storm Hits St. Louis Show

Green Day had to make a quick exit from the stage in St. Louis on Thursday night as a lightning storm threatened to cut their show short. Performing at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre on August 15, the iconic punk rockers found themselves in a race against the elements.

As the storm closed in, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong made the tough call to cut their usual set-closer ‘Bobby Sox’ and go straight into an accelerated version of "Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)." Unlike the usual acoustic rendition, Billie Joe switched to an electric guitar, speeding through the song while urging fans to exit the venue for their safety.

“Alright, that’s it! We gotta get you out of here,” Billie Joe announced to the crowd, before launching into the final track of the night. As fans were hustling out, he continued playing and shouting, “Keep walking!”

The band, currently touring to celebrate the anniversaries of their landmark albums "Dookie" and "American Idiot," managed to give fans an unforgettable, if slightly abbreviated, experience. Green Day has been playing both albums in full during the tour, with special guests like Rancid, The Linda Lindas, and The Smashing Pumpkins joining them on the road.

In other news, Green Day recently announced a special 20th-anniversary reissue of "American Idiot," complete with unreleased tracks and a brand-new documentary. Even with the weather cutting things short, Green Day proved they can still bring the energy, no matter the circumstances.
