Lost Frequencies and Tom Odell Bring a Melancholic Groove to Black Friday on Spotify

On August 16th, TopHit dropped the Top Spotify Hits Global Weekly Chart for the week ending August 15, 2024.

The Spotify Global Weekly Chart top new releases are:

At the 73rd position, the most successful new release of the week emerged. The 24-year-old singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams is quite effectively emulating Taylor Swift. On June 21, the artist released her second studio album, The Secret Of Us, under the Interscope Records label, which featured a collaboration with the decade’s leading American pop star. However, this week, the public was more intrigued by another track from the release—I Love You, I'm Sorry—which music critics have praised as the most emotional song on the album. High-quality indie-pop with a blend of country and folk remains popular, with over 10 million streams in just one week.

At the 81st position is a fresh single from Lost Frequencies, the Belgian producer who recorded the track with British artist Tom Odell, best known for the iconic, soulful ballad Another Love. Their joint creation, Black Friday (Pretty Like The Sun), turned out to be a pleasant house-pop composition with a melancholic groove.

And here’s how the top five most spun tracks on the Global Spotify are stacking up today:

1. Birds Of A Feather - Billie Eilish

2. Who - Jimin

3. Espresso - Sabrina Carpenter

4. Please Please PleaseSabrina Carpenter

5. Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido - Karol G

Last week, 82% of tracks on the air were in English, 15% in Spanish, with PopPower Pop, Singer/Songwriter and Dance reigning as the most popular genres.
