Katy Perry Shines with "Lifetimes," the Season’s Must-Hear Radio Debut

On August 23th, TopHit dropped the Top Radio Hits Global Weekly Chart for the week ending August 22, 2024.

The most successful debut of the week on the global radio chart was by American pop star Katy Perry. This fall, we are eagerly awaiting her new studio album 143, but for now, we can enjoy her second single, Lifetimes. Incidentally, the singer found herself in an unusual scandal. The music video for the banger was filmed in Spain at luxurious locations on the Balearic Islands. However, local authorities were displeased that Perry's team failed to obtain permission to film in the protected dune area of S'Espalmador, thereby causing environmental damage. The song is currently at 69th place.

At 77th place is another powerful radio hit, which is a super collaboration. Clean Bandit, Anne-Marie, and French DJ, producer, and one of the top hitmakers of the 21st century, David Guetta, teamed up on the track Cry Baby. The track was recorded back in 2020, and Clean Bandit spent four years experimenting with the sound, striving to release something perfect. Trends shifted, and the artists added sped-up and country versions, but eventually settled on a much earlier version of the release.

Other standout new entries on the Global airplay include:

Lifetimes - Katy Perry

Cry Baby - Clean Bandit & Anne-Marie & David Guetta

Die With A Smile - Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars

And here’s how the top three most spun tracks on the Global airwaves are stacking up today:

Espresso - Sabrina Carpenter

The Door - Teddy Swims

Summer's Back - Alok & Jess Glynne

Last week, 78% of tracks on the air were in English, with Dance, PopElectronic and Singer/Songwriter reigning as the most popular genres.
