ABBA Voyage Hits 100 Million Mark with Over One Million Visitors in 2023

The groundbreaking virtual concert residency, ABBA Voyage, continues to break records, grossing more than £100 million last year. With digital avatars of the Swedish pop legends capturing their 1979 heyday, the show pulled in over a million visitors in 2023 alone, according to new financial filings.

The concert series, held at the custom-built 3,000-capacity ABBA Arena in London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, saw 1,097,597 fans attend across 374 performances last year, resulting in an impressive 97.8% occupancy rate. Ticket sales brought in a staggering £103.7 million, and the company behind the show, Aniara, recorded a pre-tax profit of £6.1 million — more than double the £3 million earned in 2022, when the show only ran for seven months.

ABBA Voyage debuted in May 2022 to widespread critical acclaim and shows no signs of slowing down. The directors of the show are optimistic about 2024, stating in a report that there is “substantial market demand” and that the residency will continue in London “for as long as it remains commercially viable.”

With ticket prices ranging from £27.50 to £319.50, fans are clearly eager to experience the magic of ABBA’s classic hits brought to life through cutting-edge technology, supported by a live 10-piece band.

When ABBA Voyage first premiered, NME gave it a glowing five-star review, calling it “an epic avatar mega-mix from a brave new world,” and adding that it set a new standard for digital performances that would be hard for others to replicate.

In other ABBA news, band member Björn Ulvaeus remarried last month in Copenhagen, with Sandi Toksvig officiating the ceremony. The group also recently made headlines when they asked Donald Trump to stop using their music at political rallies.
