Lady Gaga is ready to shake things up with her upcoming album, which she has described as “nothing like” her 2020 release, Chromatica. The pop icon recently dropped her surprise companion album Harlequin, tied to her role as Harley Quinn in the highly anticipated film Joker: Folie à Deux, set to hit theaters on October 4.
Speaking with Rolling Stone, Gaga revealed that her next project, currently referred to as LG7, will be released in February 2025. She hinted that this new album reflects a significant period in her life and has an “unhinged” feel. “The pop album is nothing like Chromatica,” she stated. “It’s a completely different record. What I would say is, it’s all for me.”
Gaga expressed her excitement about the freedom of not having to conform to a single era in her music, allowing her to explore multiple concepts simultaneously. “That feels unhinged and more like me or Harley. Or whoever,” she quipped.
The artist also confirmed that the lead single from LG7 will drop in October, right after the release of Joker: Folie à Deux. Earlier this month, she teased fans with promises of more details to come about the album, although she admitted she wasn’t ready to dive deeper into the subject just yet.
This new chapter comes on the heels of Gaga's role as Harley Quinn, a character that has clearly influenced her creative direction. As for the Joker franchise, director Todd Phillips has hinted that this sequel may mark the end of the series, saying, “It was fun to play in this sort of sandbox for two movies, but I think we’ve said what we wanted to say in this world.”
