Zach Bryan Deactivates Twitter Account After Taylor Swift Tweet Sparks Backlash

Country singer-songwriter Zach Bryan has once again deactivated his Twitter (X) account following a wave of backlash from fans over a controversial tweet involving pop star Taylor Swift.

The drama began when Bryan shared a tweet last week criticizing those who put politics above music, saying they “don’t get the point of listening to music.” However, things escalated when Bryan returned to the platform on September 17, posting a now-infamous tweet that read: “Eagles > Chiefs” and “Kanye > Taylor,” ending with the provocative question: “Who’s with me?”

Fans quickly interpreted the “Eagles > Chiefs” jab as a dig at Swift’s rumored boyfriend, NFL star Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs. The mention of Kanye West reignited tensions between Swift and the rapper’s fans, stemming from their infamous 2009 VMAs incident.

Unsurprisingly, the tweet set off a storm of responses from Taylor Swift’s loyal fanbase, the “Swifties,” with many firing back at Bryan, making it clear they weren’t impressed. Comments like “Literally anyone else > Zach Bryan” flooded in.

In response to the backlash, Bryan tried to explain himself, tweeting that he was, in fact, a Taylor Swift fan and had been listening to her music the night before. He claimed the Kanye comparison was made in a drunken moment, insisting that he appreciated both artists and the diverse music landscape of today.

Despite the attempt to clarify, the heat was too much for Bryan, and he deactivated his account again shortly after.
