Ryan Reynolds had a night to remember as he took in Taylor Swift’s iconic Eras Tour in New Orleans, calling the show both “gigantic but intimate” and expressing his wish that Swift could experience it from the audience’s perspective. The Deadpool star, who attended with his wife Blake Lively, shared photos and a heartfelt message about Swift’s record-breaking tour that left him captivated.
“When I’m 95 yrs old and my wife and kids wheel me outside and into the sun so I can drink a sandwich, I’ll still be talking about seeing this show in New Orleans,” Reynolds joked, sharing just how unforgettable the night was. It wasn’t only the high-energy performance that left an impression on him but also the “staggering economic impact” Swift’s tour had on local businesses in a city that’s endured so much. He likened the night to a mix of Mardi Gras and the Super Bowl, celebrating the cultural electricity that filled the Superdome.
Reynolds added that in 2024, an event that unites people so profoundly feels rare and remarkable. “I don’t understand the unimaginable work, care, talent and discipline @taylorswift generates to create an experience like this because I’m not a scientist. It’s an athletic event and a collective cultural phenomenon. It’s gigantic but intimate.”
Though Reynolds joked about wishing Swift could see the performance through the eyes of her fans, he acknowledged that it’s nearly impossible. "The only bummer is she can’t be in the audience to experience what everyone else sees and feels. To watch herself up there is something I wish she could know. But that isn’t physically possible and even if it were, you can’t just get tickets last minute,” he noted, adding that scoring tickets last minute is hardly an option—even for Taylor.
Reynolds, who’s known to lovingly troll Swift fans, recently joked about her cameoing in Deadpool & Wolverine and even mocked up himself into a photo of Swift and Lively at Beyoncé’s Renaissance film premiere. Swift has only a handful of dates left on her monumental tour, with nine shows remaining across Canada as she wraps up a journey that’s left an undeniable impact on fans and friends alike.
