The British government has published an official response to the report on the "Remuneration of Creators", previously submitted by the parliamentary committee on Culture, Media and Sport. The letter contains a reaction to the committee's recommendations, including a call for "fundamental reform of streaming music with a set of measures for its accessibility."
The authorities actually referred the issue back to the music industry through previously established working groups. "The government believes that the best way to address the remuneration of music creators is through dialogue within the industry and, if necessary, actions initiated by the industry itself," Sir Chris Bryant and Feryal Clark said in the letter on behalf of the government.
They also "reserved the right to consider alternative measures if the working group encounters difficulties," while emphasizing the importance of giving the group the opportunity to fully explore remuneration issues without bias towards results.
