Lil Nas X is back, and he’s bringing all the energy with his pulsating new track, ‘Light Again’. The single, initially teased as a rogue SoundCloud drop back in March, has now received a full release—and it’s a certified vibe.
The rapper first shared the track earlier this year, admitting at the time he was “probably gonna get in trouble” with his label, Columbia Records, for the impromptu leak. But now, ‘Light Again’ comes with a bold official rollout, complete with a cinematic, party-fueled music video directed by Andrew Donoho. The visuals channel the chaotic fun of a Project X-style house party, perfectly capturing the euphoric energy of the song.
Produced by none other than Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter, the track marks the start of Lil Nas X’s self-declared “Dreamboy” era. Ahead of the release, he shared a heartfelt message with fans about focusing on his artistic vision over mainstream pressures:
“For so long I’ve tried to make every song get as much attention as possible, due to my fear of everyone saying I’m a flop or feeling like less,” he wrote. “This time around I’m choosing my vision. Do I hope my songs do well? YES, but they are coming regardless, and I’m standing behind them!!”
