Calvin Harris has given his 2016 smash hit with Rihanna, ‘This Is What You Came For’, a fresh twist with a brand-new VIP remix. Released exclusively via Amazon Music on Friday (November 15), the updated track features a faster BPM, extra vocal effects, and a tighter, punchier arrangement.
Officially titled ‘Calvin Harris VIP Mix – Amazon Music Original’, the remix breathes new energy into a song that originally peaked at Number Two on the UK Singles Chart and Number Three in the US. The track, co-written by Taylor Swift under her alias Nils Sjöberg, was one of the highlights of Harris’ career during his relationship with Swift.
This marks the fourth collaboration between Harris and Rihanna, following their iconic 2011 hit ‘We Found Love’ and 2012’s ‘Where Have You Been’. The remix arrives as Harris’ first major release since July’s ‘Free’, a soaring collaboration with Ellie Goulding that captured the essence of summer with house-inspired beats and euphoric hooks.
Meanwhile, Rihanna has sparked fresh conversations about her future in music. At a Fenty Beauty launch, the artist reflected on her journey, saying, “Music was the thing that got the attention, but God had other plans for me. And I was able to create in ways that were very sincere and genuine, or organic and authentic to the things that I love.” The comment has reignited debates on whether her last album, 2016’s ‘Anti’, will remain her swan song.
