BLACKPINK’s Rosé is opening up about her solo career, her upcoming debut album rosie, and a life-changing conversation she had with none other than Taylor Swift.
In an interview with i-D, Rosé revealed that as she prepared to sign with Atlantic Records for her solo projects, she reached out to Swift for advice. The two crossed paths during a casual hangout hosted by producer Jack Antonoff.
“I told her I was a huge fan and had some questions,” Rosé shared. “As soon as she met me, she said, ‘Spill, let me help you out.’ She gave me her number and she’s like, ‘Let me know if you have any questions.’ Who does that? Like, you’re Taylor Swift!”
According to Rosé, Swift became a mentor of sorts during a pivotal time in her life. “I was drowning a little,” she admitted, explaining how Swift’s guidance helped her navigate the complexities of launching a solo career. “There are a lot of things I should be careful with, and she gave me a rundown on all the things I have to look out for. That was the coolest part – she’s killed it in the game, and she was kind enough to walk me through.”
Rosé also shared her excitement for her upcoming single, Number One Girl, describing it as a deeply personal track about her struggles in the public eye. “I couldn’t sleep because I was so obsessed with what these people were gonna say about me,” she confessed. “I was so disgusted at myself for it – I never wanted to admit it to anyone, I didn’t even want to admit it to myself.”
With her debut studio album rosie dropping on December 6, anticipation is building. Fans have already gotten a taste of her solo sound with APT., a sultry collaboration featuring Bruno Mars.
