Linkin Park have released their brand new single Heavy Is The Crown, giving fans another taste of their upcoming album From Zero, due out on November 15. The song made its live debut in Germany on September 22 and is the second track to be revealed from the band’s first album in seven years. Not only that, Heavy Is The Crown has been chosen as the official anthem for the 2024 League of Legends World Championship, marking Linkin Park’s exciting first collaboration with Riot Games.
Following the lead single The Emptiness Machine, which debuted on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, this new track builds further anticipation for From Zero. The band’s return has been a whirlwind for fans, especially after their reunion earlier this month with Mike Shinoda, Joe Hahn, Brad Delson, and Dave ‘Phoenix’ Farrell coming together again for the first time since the tragic passing of Chester Bennington in 2017.
While the new lineup, featuring Emily Armstrong of Dead Sara stepping in as lead vocalist and Colin Brittain replacing founding drummer Rob Bourdon, has sparked mixed reactions, the band remains focused on their future. In fact, during the first show of their reunion tour, Shinoda told the crowd, “We’re not here to erase the past. We’re here to start a new chapter and move forward with all of you.”
Linkin Park’s From Zero World Tour continues to gain momentum, with tonight’s (September 24) show at London’s O2 Arena already sold out. Due to overwhelming demand, the band has announced three new stadium dates for 2024, including shows in Paris, Dallas, and São Paulo.
Despite the success, not everyone is happy about the band’s direction. Chester Bennington’s mother recently expressed feelings of “betrayal” regarding the new lineup, a sentiment echoed by Chester’s son Jaime, who accused Shinoda of “betraying the trust” of longtime fans. However, Shinoda remains confident in the band’s future, promising that this new era is all about moving forward without forgetting the past.
